   This past weekend we took a short ride inland (15 min.) from Playa Zancudo to see our friend Mauriseo (The Old Man in The Jungle) and one of the largest trees in Costa Rica.
    This is a type of Ceiba tree that can reach into the heavens to well over 200 ft. and has a buttress root base that jets out from the main trunk in all directions like huge walls creating the solid base to hold up this giant.
    The tree in question was hit by lightning some years back and the top  came tumbling down but she has made a fantastic recovered and is alive and well. Standing in excess of 130 ft. (and still going) she has a beautiful array of canopy branches that spread out in all directions far above everything else around her.

Exploring the Coto River Mangroves With Arena Alta Wildlife Reserve

     Our friend Dan was doing alittle exploring across the road at Arena Alta Wildlife Reserve's property here in Playa Zancudo when he came upon a new little friend of his own !!!

     Many folks just come down here for the remote Tropical Beach that stretches on for miles & miles with know one in site . Others are here for the sport fishing or taking advantage of the amazing surfing opportunities. Still others spend their time "kickin' back" and "downloading" away the stressful life they live back home.        But, if you find yourself Visiting Zancudo, take some time to explore the amazing Mangrove Estuary that is just on the other side of our little dirt road !!
     There is no better way to enjoy this 'other side' of Zancudo then to contact the folks at Arena Alta Wildlife Village & Reserve at the south end of Zancudo's beach road.
     Arena Alta Wildlife Reserve offers guided tours throughout the almost 100 acres of this one of a kind property. There are 'Walking Tours' though clean & maintained virgin Jungle trails  ~  'Horseback Tours' though-out the property from the beach to the Jungle  ~  'Kayaking Adventures'  that start or end at the very headwaters of the Sabalo River in the Reserve .
     Have a look at their Web Site  *  www.ArenaAlta.com  *
Or if you find yourself here on the Beach give Noah a call for more information
*  8896-1661  *  PURA VIDA !!
