This past weekend we took a short ride inland (15 min.) from Playa Zancudo to see our friend Mauriseo (The Old Man in The Jungle) and one of the largest trees in Costa Rica.
This is a type of Ceiba tree that can reach into the heavens to well over 200 ft. and has a buttress root base that jets out from the main trunk in all directions like huge walls creating the solid base to hold up this giant.
The tree in question was hit by lightning some years back and the top  came tumbling down but she has made a fantastic recovered and is alive and well. Standing in excess of 130 ft. (and still going) she has a beautiful array of canopy branches that spread out in all directions far above everything else around her.

Thank you Lee,

Good to hear that you talked to Mauriseo and glad you are enjoying the "up-dates" ;)
Ask Joe if he would like to put his rental house on our www.visitzancudo.com site. We will start to spread the word in the States and Canada about the site and if you guys know of any "Travel Businesses" in your area that I can contact by phone or e-mail to let them know about us send us their info.

Thanks again and say hello to the better half for me ;)
