Wildlife Sanctuary

Just across the Golfo Dulce from Playa Zancudo is the famed Osa Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is one of the most unique attractions in all of Costa Rica. Located on a remote beach and only accessible by boat, the mission of the sanctuary is the rehabilitation of wounded, orphaned and displaced wildlife from the Southern Zone of Costa Rica.
This is not a Zoo with traditional cages but a large complex that is specifically designed to mimic the natural surroundings and habitat of these amazing animals. Many of the animals that come here are re-released into the wild after rescue and rehabilitation and go on to live healthy and natural lives. Everything from Howler, Spider & Capuchin monkeys to Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, Margays, Kinkajuos, Sloths and many others can be found here. The education and experience you will enjoy from a visit to this Wildlife Sanctuary will stay with you for a lifetime !!
The Osa Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization. The sanctuary is dedicated to the education of the community and strongly believe that a united effort starting at the local level is crucial to the survival of Costa Rica's diverse animal inhabitants.
Guided tours of the Sanctuary and boat transportation can be arranged with Susan & Andrew at Los Cocos Cabinas here in Zancudo. For more information call them at : 2776-0012
